Warm welcome

Hi! We‘re Andrea & Cris who warmly welcome you to their lovingly designed eco campground at the foot of the Retezat peak Baleia in Pui, Hunedoara County, Romania. Nestled between nature- & national park, Pui is the optimal supply and starting point and our camp the perfect outdoor base to experience the authentic cultural landscape, history and the wilderness of the Transylvanian Alps. Or to just chill and recharge your batteries in nature’s fresh air. Driven by passion, attention to detail and respect for nature and its inhabitants we started in 2023 on our family owned land at the banks of the Bărbat mountain river to create an ideal sustainable place for all those who visit our country and share our values.

Plots & field for vehicles

Well equipped, our camp in Pui is the ideal base for a longer stay as well as for your own and your vehicle’s supply during a trip through Transylvania. For mobile homes and caravans there are separated PLOTS available, with own connection to water and electricity. With an off-road or smaller camper, you can optionally choose to stay on our so-called 4x4 FIELD. The dumping station is comfy to use for any kind of vehicle. Or are you traveling in a group with several vehicles? Our 4x4 field is flexible and a collective site can be arranged according to own preferences. If you need more space, simply book additionally.

Woods & meadow for tents

If you're looking for a campsite free of noise or air- and light pollution our campsite is just right for you, since our tent area is CAR-FREE. You choose for yourself whether you want to camp on a spacious TENT PLOT with mountain view, lush vegetables and fragrant herbs. Or in one of our flexible areas of the TENT MEADOW or the TENT WOODS, shaded by tall trees on the banks of the Barbat mountain river. Some of our sites are cozy and perfect for one or two adventurers, others large enough for families or smaller groups. If you don't bring your own tent, you can of course rent one or more from us.

Tent groups' meadow

Camping Baleia sees itself as a place of inclusion, tolerance and diversity. We promote communality and nature-loving groups are particularly important to us. Whether it's an expedition, a children's, student’s, sports or leisure trip, workshop or team building –or, maybe you like using the outdoor spirit for creative coworking?, regardless of the reason for your stay, you won’t miss anything. On our GROUP MEADOW you can either camp with your own tents or rent prepared equipment from us: smaller tents or a GROUP TENT for up to 20 people including an own picnic area, fire pit, grill, cooker, fridge, water and electricity.

Reist du gern nachhaltig?

Absolut empfehlenswert, vor allem für Rad- und/oder Fernreisende, ist der ZUG über DEVA, wo täglich der Nachtzug Bukarest-Wien-Bukarest hält. In Deva oder Simeria ist der Umstieg auf die Strecke nach PETROSANI oder Targu Jiu mit Ausstieg am BAHNHOF PUI mehrmals am Tag gegeben. Der Bahnhof ist nur 2,5 km von unserem Camping entfernt und trägt nicht nur zur nachhaltigsten Mobilität bei, sondern stellt zudem die bequemste, endschleunigendste und vor allem schönste Art dar, die gesamte Region zu erkunden.

Magst du Flexibilität?

Der ZMK-Linienbus entlang der DN66 zwischen Deva und Jiu-Tal verkehrt stündlich durch Pui. Die nächste Bushalte ist nur 1 km von unserem Camping entfernt. Zudem eine wunderbare Möglichkeit des Hop-On Hop-Off Reisens für Backpacker und Wanderer! Damit kommst du fix & flex in jeden Ort auf der Strecke, z.B. in die TARA HATEGULUI und dessen GEOPARK der Dinosaurier oder in weitere umliegende Orte mit Zugang zum NATIONALPARK RETEZAT.

Du bist per Pedes, Rad oder 4x4 unterwegs?

Über den SUREANU gen Süden führt die VIA TRANSILVANICA in unseren überaus lohnenswerten Geheimtipp, den Naturpark Gradistea Muncelului CIOCLOVINA, vorbei an seinen Highlights wie die Daker-Stätte SARMIZEGETUSA REGIA, zahlreichen Höhlen oder die idyllische FUNDATURA PONORULUI, die zur Gemeinde Pui gehört, somit einen Steinwurf von uns entfernt ist. Vom Camp aus blickt man auf den nach ihm benannten Retezat-Gipfel BALEIA, der per Tageswanderung, Mountainbike oder 4x4 erreichbar ist.

Machst du einen Roadtrip?

und bist per Wohnmobil, Campervan, Auto oder Motorrad unterwegs? Prima, denn unser Camp liegt mit nur je 60 km genau mittig zwischen der TRANSALPINA und der Autobahn A1. Der nächste Anschluß zur berüchtigten Passstraße ist in Obarsa Lotrului, ein weiterer sehenswerter im rund 100 km entfernten Novaci über den JIU-CANYON. Die Berg- & Extremsport Mekkas des Jiu-Tals PARANG und STRAJA erreicht man ab Pui bereits in 45 Minuten.
